The Story

Scotty

My journey as a business owner began in 1994, when I created a company called Western Computer Upgrades. Mainly, I carried out computer repairs and met the IT needs of other businesses. The company grew and it became Western Computers Ltd. I employed 4 staff and I moved into a commercial building in Henderson, Auckland. We traded in the greater Auckland area for 10 years.

In 2010, when traffic ground to a halt, we changed our focus to West Auckland clients only. The range of customers was large. We worked with residential, education, tradesmen, construction, legal, transport, health and hospitality clients.

Western Computers Ltd was sold in 2020 as Bronny and I began our migration North! Our decision to move to Kerikeri was a daring one, to say the least. However, we were both ready to leave the fast-paced, grueling natures of our careers in Auckland behind. Both of us had done the hard yards and our children had flown the nest. It felt like the right time to make a change, and we are so glad that we did.

Bronny and I share a love of the sea. So, the Bay of Islands was a no-brainer for us. We like to sail and we often go fishing together. On the odd occasion that we are not on the water together, you will find me mountain-biking. Since moving up, I have also become fond of the Kerikeri F45 gym!

Now that we have met Kerikeri in the great outdoors, we are ready to meet Kerikeri at work! We would love to share our experience with the community. It would be a great privilege to apply skills that I have developed over the years to a new environment. I am approachable, keen and extremely adaptable. Give me a problem and I’ll fix it!

Thank you for the opportunity, Kerikeri!

I am a retired Flight Sergeant Logistics Specialist (Royal New Zealand Air Force). After 30 years of service it was time for change. Now, I enjoy the slower pace, friendly faces and wide open spaces of a small town. Being born in Kaitaia and growing up in Whangarei, this feels like a homecoming. My partner and I are building a beautiful life in the Far North. Kerikeri Computer Services is the next step of our journey.

My role in Kerikeri Computer Services involves supporting Scotty with the admin side of the business. What I bring to our business is a vast number of organisational and interpersonal skills. I am no stranger to managing people, money and time. Raising two children alongside my career taught me how to juggle many things at once, while maintaining my focus on the details. Building positive relationships and rapport with a diverse range of people is also a strength of mine.

When Scotty and I first moved to Kerikeri, I volunteered at the SPCA. I really enjoyed my time there and I felt that I was making a difference in a community with many challenges. In order to put more of my skills to use, I offered more of my time to the community. Now I help the Bald Angels when I can, but my main charitable group is the Northland Coastguard Air Patrol. I am the Admin Coordinator and Health & Safety Representative there. Scotty has also joined as an observer.

I am excited to meet more of the community through Kerikeri Computer Services. Thank you for welcoming us and embracing what we have to offer.

See you out there!
